After getting ready to find their big lunch, the family stomped downstairs, exhausted because they had no energy. After all, they had missed breakfast. So when Mrs. Frandia friendly and cheerfully said hello, Aly’s father could only manage a sad and grumpy hello. Shocked, Mrs. Frandia said, “Did you all miss breakfast? I’ve noticed that most people are cranky because they missed a meal.” Quickly, she added, “No offense.” “None took. Anyway, you are correct about us missing breakfast today,” he replied. “Well, I’m sorry to hear that,” sympathized Mrs. Frandia. “That’s OK. It isn’t your fault. We were going to have a big lunch to make up for breakfast.” explained dad. “Nice! Where are you going for that big lunch,” curiously asked Mrs. Frandia, frantically trying to think of a place where those three guests can have lunch in case they don’t know where to go. Embarrassed, dad answered in a tiny, grumpy voice, “We don’t exactly know yet.” This answer made Mrs. Frandia worried. Why she was concerned was because they were super cranky, and if they did not eat food soon, they would go bananas🤪! Harder and harder, she thought until she suddenly got an idea! “Why don’t you all go to the restaurant Foods Away!?” Mrs. Frandia suggested. All three guests — Aly, mother, and father — brightened at this. “Thank you so much, Frandia! Bye!” father said in a tone much happier than before. “Your welcome! Bye!” she called after them.

In the car, Aly’s mother was busy typing in the address to the restaurant, while father, sitting in the driver seat, was getting impatient. Aly, sitting in her car seat in the back, was anxious, silent, and starving. Finally, Aly’s father could not take it anymore. “Hurry up, PLEASE! Some of us need to eat lunch right this very moment!” burst out, father. “I am seriously in need of some lunch NOW!!!”. “Sorry, I’m trying! The GPS ran out of battery while I was, so I had to start typing on the phone, and someone did not check the notifications. Now I have to check the updates and messages and essential stuff in the notifications before I can type in the address.” argued mother. Now silenced, father sat back down with a sigh. Aly sat licking her lips at the vision of food in the restaurant they were going to and waited. Unfortunately, Aly’s mother did not notice any of their expressions.

When Aly’s mother finally finished typing the address, Aly’s father drove off, speed 100 miles per hour. Aly’s mother was screaming as loud as fifty vacuum cleaners in one house, while Aly froze in fear. Vehicles honked their horns, but Aly’s father did not seem to mind. When Aly’s father did not stop, one driver alerted the police. Minutes later, the cops in their police car showed up behind the family’s car. “Stop!” yelled one cop from a megaphone. Aly’s father was going too fast to hear. The police had to break the rules to catch up with the family’s car. When the officers were close enough, or as close as they thought they should be, one officer yelled, “Stop, by the name of the police, I command you to stop!” But Aly’s father still did not put the breaks on. Why Aly’s father did not hear was because he had shut the windows, and switched the music on, max volume. Finally, the police had to drive ahead and block the lane Aly’s father was driving on. He stopped the car and started scolding the police officers!

“Hey, you’re not allowed to block the highway! Get out of the way! Come on, move it! No stopping! Move NOW! Alright enough! I’m calling the police! Aly’s father took out his cell phone from the car and started to dial the safety phone number. Just then, one of the cops slid out of the police mobile. Aly’s father turned his phone off, mouth hanging open in shock, embarrassment, and fright. He was startled because he had not known that those people were the police officers. “Alright, Mister times up,” said one officer. “Here’s the ticket, and the fine you have to pay for speeding and ignoring the police.” Aly’s father looked ashamedly at the fine the officer gave him. When he saw the fine, Aly’s father rubbed his eyes in disbelief. Quickly, he finished rubbing; then, he looked at the ticket again. No, he was not seeing things. What he saw was correct. The money he needed to pay was 2,500$! “Well, um…” Aly’s father began. “Well, um what?” the officer snapped. “ It isn’t a lot, and if you had listened to the police instead of ignoring us, then we could have given you a cheaper fine. But, since you did not intend to mind, you have to pay this fine right now!” Suddenly, Aly’s mother stopped screaming. She looked at Aly’s father with a perplexed and worried look. Why she was perplexed was because she did not know what was in his hand or what happened. She just knew that something terrible happened. Instead of coming out to talk, Aly’s mother just knocked on the glass of the window. Aly’s father observed that. “Excuse me, sir,” Aly’s father said to the police. “ My wife is calling me.” Father walked over to the car and asked Aly’s mother, “ What’s the matter?” “Well, what’s going on?” she asked. Aly’s father sighed. “The police came over and gave me a big fine that costs 2,500$, and now I’m freaking out!” he guiltily answered. Aly’s mother gasped. Then she said,” Give him the money.” Slowly, Aly’s father walked back towards the police. “Here you go, sir,” he said in a disappointed and ashamed voice. He dropped the money into the cop’s hand. “Thank you very much, Mr.,” called the officer from the distance. Aly’s father climbed back into the car, silently.
